Strawberries

strawberries

Strawberries are a red fruit everyone loves, both grown-ups and little ones. They’re refreshing, sweet and full of benefits: the star fruits of summer!

The benefits of strawberries

Strawberries are fruits rich in water, which means they are low in calories. They are full of vitamin C and B, as well as minerals: manganese, potassium, iron, copper, zinc and magnesium.

Very rich in vitamin C, strawberries could take the limelight from citrus fruits!

When and how should I prepare them for my baby?

The baby can start eating strawberries from when it is 9 months old. However, pay attention: strawberries can release histamine and cause allergies. Do not hesitate to ask your doctor for advice.

Strawberries can be eaten raw or cooked. Plus, they work well in both sweet and savoury dishes.

They will go perfectly well with other red fruits, as in this delicious Blackcurrant and strawberry jam as a snack or with rhubarb in a strawberry soup with verbena.

Tip

Choose very bright strawberries and don’t trust their colour or size.
